Japan’s space agency announces the successful launch of its flagship H3 space rocket, following a failed attempt last year. The H3 rocket departed from the Tanegashima Space Center and reached orbit as planned. The H3 is designed to be more cost-effective by utilizing commercial off-the-shelf products. It is expected to launch government and commercial missions, potentially up to six times a year for the next two decades. This achievement comes after the successful landing of Japan’s ‘moon sniper’ robotic explorer in January. The new space race aims to access water trapped on the moon for future space exploration.
